Specials (Uglies, #3)
Cover Rating: 3/5 Stars (I used a pretty cover, mine was horrible!)
Overall Rating: 2.5/5 Stars
Synopsis: "Special Circumstances":
The words have sent chills down Tally's spine since her days as a repellent, rebellious ugly. Back then Specials were a sinister rumor -- frighteningly beautiful, dangerously strong, breathtakingly fast. Ordinary pretties might live their whole lives without meeting a Special. But Tally's never been ordinary. And now she's been turned into one of them: a superamped fighting machine, engineered to keep the uglies down and the pretties stupid. The strength, the speed, and the clarity and focus of her thinking feel better than anything Tally can remember. Most of the time. One tiny corner of her heart still remembers something more. Still, it's easy to tune that out -- until Tally's offered a chance to stamp out the rebels of the New Smoke permanently. It all comes down to one last choice: listen to that tiny, faint heartbeat, or carry out the mission she's programmed to complete. Either way, Tally's world will never be the same.

I read this as my Random Read this month and was quite disappointed. I had been putting Specials off about a year because the ending of the book before annoyed me but I thought it was about time I picked it back up. I loved the first book Uglies but they have been decreasing in quality since then. I found the story line a lot less exciting than the first. Specials has all the original characters as before Tally, Zane Shay, David. I don't think I like any of them. Tally is unbelievably annoying, Shay equally so, I think the power they both had went to their head. David and Zane are a little less annoying but more boring. Even though I disliked the characters they were very life like and real, they had their obvious flaws but they had very human feelings. Although this book was nowhere near as good as the first book I was really sad for it to end as I've loved the series for a while and this is kind of the last book in the series. I say kind of because there is another book Extra's but that follows different characters. I might read it sometime.

I think this book was a disappointing kinda end of a series but luckily it hasn't tainted my memory of the first. The ending to this book was very neat which I suppose is better than cliff-hangers. This book is dystopia but it doesn't give off as much as a dystopian aura as books like The Hunger Games and Wither. I would recommend this book to lovers of dystopia and those who enjoyed the series so far. I would give this book 2.5/5 stars. What do you think of the book? Did it fall short of your expectations as well?

My Favorite Quote:
“That Shay was in possesion of hand grenades was a comforting thought showed what kind of night this had become.”
