April Book Awards

Thursday, 3 May 2012

Hi everyone I'm back, did you miss me? Of course you did! But I'm sure Beka did a good job standing in! Usually at the beginning of each month I do a post on the best book I've read that month but I decided to spice it up a bit by giving books awards for different categories I read 18 books last month, which I think is a record for me. If you have suggestions for categories feel free to let me know and I could include them next month.
So let the show begin! (?)

The Longest Book Award goes to...
Beautiful Darkness By Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl
Beautiful Darkness (Caster Chronicles, #2)

A whopping 503 pages according to Goodreads. No wonder it took me so long to read! Then again I did stop halfway through then start up a week later but still.

The Most Deceiving Cover Award goes to...
Justice By Jade Varden
Justice (Deck of Lies, #1)

Based on the cover I thought it was going to be a fluffy girly read, but it was far from it. Justice had mystery, romance and not one barbie styled main character in sight (Except the mean girl character but that's beside the point).

The Most Beautiful Cover Award goes to...
A Great And Terrible Beauty By Libba Bray

A Great and Terrible Beauty (Gemma Doyle, #1)

I don't know what it is about this cover but I love it. Maybe it's the victorian style, I've been fond of that lately.

The Why Did I Read This Book? Award goes to...
Undead By Kirsty Mckay
Undead

Okay this book was about Zombies. I don't usually like Zombie books but I thought I'd give it a try. Just teaches me to trust my first instincts.

The Best Adult Book Award goes to...
At Graves End By Jeaniene Frost
At Grave's End (Night Huntress, #3)

The cover may be slightly provocative but I really do love this series! Looking forward to reading the fourth book.

The Best YA Book Award goes to...
Thirteen Reasons Why By Jay Asher
Thirteen Reasons Why

No idea why I picked this up but I'm very glad I did. A must read for everyone.

The Most Annoying Character Award goes to...
Bloodfever By Karen Marie Moning
Bloodfever (Fever, #2)

Speaking of Barbie doll main characters. Mackayla Lane went up in my expectations at the end of the first book, well in the second she went right back down again.

The Most Awesome Character Award goes to....
The Mortal Instruments Series By Cassandra Clare
City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1)City of Ashes (The Mortal Instruments, #2)

Jace Wayland! Need I say more?

So what books would you put in these categories? Do you agree with mine?
