Synopsis: "Cassia has always trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read, what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander's face appears on-screen at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is her ideal mate... until she sees Ky Markham's face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black.
The Society tells her it's a glitch, a rare malfunction, and that she should focus on the happy life she's destined to lead with Xander. But Cassia can't stop thinking about Ky, and as they slowly fall in love, Cassia begins to doubt the Society's infallibility and is faced with an impossible choice: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she's known and a path that no one else has dared to follow."
Matched started off quite good and then it got a bit boring then good again. The book was very simple but a letdown since I had been waiting to read this for so long. The characters didn't have very much depth to them so I didn't particularly like any of them. The main character Cassia came across very shallow and didn't have many original thoughts. I didn't hate her though because she wasn't individual enough to hate, it was as if she was the narrator but not an actual character. Also the synopsis says "So when Xander's face appears on-screen at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is her ideal mate... until she sees Ky Markham's face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black." but that doesn't actually happen, she see's Ky's face later on in the story and that annoyed me.
The male love interests were also quite boring, Ky and Xander also had the same problem as Cassia. Neither had much personality. The closest we got was Ky's troubled past. I can't say I didn't enjoy this book though because I did. It may have been simple and kind of boring but at the same time it was a fun read although I read it at the same time as a friend of mine and she gave up completely on it 30 pages in. I will probably read the second book but I wont buy it like I originally planned. I heard the second was better than the first so lets hope. I would recommend Matched to people who enjoy simple Dystopia as opposed to the complicated type which I prefer. I would give Matched 3/5 stars.

Hmmm, the synopsis being wrong like that would annoy me as well actually. It sounds like it was written before the story was finished.
Quick suggestion - I think you should have the cover score and overall score in the same place. Maybe it was just me not reading properly but when I was reading your City of Bones review I was wondering why you had only given it 3/5 stars - until I realised my mistake!
Sorry to hear this one was a letdown for you. I haven't gotten to read it myself yet, but it was definitely on my to-read list. I can see why it was though, boring is obviously not a good thing, haha. Thanks for the review!
I was wondering about reading Matched but have heard similar things about it being a little dull. I read the kindle preview chapter and came to the bit where the ceremony was wrong and it irritated me that it didn't do what it said on the tin - I don't really get where the wonder comes from for the Ky if the screen flash doesn't happen. After read ing Divergent and no t being overwhelmed (sorry!) I've been reluctant to delve into ya dystopian recently, although Cinder was good... Think I'll hold off on Matched for now, plus a character called Cassia could cause me issues :)
Good review
I want read this :)
Good review! Its nice to see a not-so positive review for hyped up books like Matched! It sounds so interesting though and I'm sad to hear it was a let down.
Just started this book! Glad to have a heads up on what to expect! Thanks!
