Destined By P.C. And Kristen Cast

Saturday 10 March 2012

Hello everyone, It's the review that you've all been waiting for, Destined! Okay maybe I've been a little harsh on this book, it has rubbish characters and embarrassing dialogue but it has an alright storyline.

Destined follows straight on from Awakened so Rephaim who was previously a Raven-mocker has been given human form except from the fact he turns into a raven in the daytime. All Rephaim has to do is stay on the Goddess's side but that's easier said than done since his father, Kalona, is on the dark side. But could Kalona actually be that bad? He did release Rephaim, but then again he did kill Heath! Speaking of Heath I won't be spoiling anything for you to say he's been brought back as Aurox. I don't know if we were supposed to know that straight away but everyone I know opened the book and knew straight away, I mean they could have made it a little less obvious! Sorry I'm ranting. So... will Zoey ever be safe? (Lets hope not). Here's the synopsis:

"In Destined, the forces of Light and Dark collide as their epic struggle focuses on Tulsa's House of Night. Zoey is home where she belongs, safe with her Guardian Warrior, Stark, by her side and preparing to face off against Neferet. Kalona has released his hold on Rephaim, and, through Nyx's gift of a human form, he and Stevie Rae are finally able to be together if Rephaim can truly walk the path of the Goddess and stay free of his father's shadow.  But is Zoey really safe? Does she truly know those who are closest to her? And will love win when it is tested by the very soul of Darkness? Find out what is destined in the next thrilling chapter of the House of Night series."

It took me absolutely ages to finish this book and when I did finish it there wasn't a proper ending. No, want to know what it said? It said 'The End. For Now...'. I mean WHY??? Anyway I won't go into the annoyingness of the characters or the overuse of the word super or the use of the word Awesomesauce at least five times in one page. Oh and there's the constant refrences to Glee, True-Blood and Harry Potter like their advertising in the book! The only character I actually like is Aphrodite, Stark's okay (and I used to like Jack and Heath but we all know how that ended). One good thing about this book is that Shaunee -you know the girl who calls her self Erin's twin- actually stopped being Twin. She thought for herself for once! Anyway... I will just cut right to it, this book is getting 2/5 stars and that's genorous! So will I be reading the next book? Definitely!

My favorite  A random quote:
“Darkness got you like Shelob gor Frodo, only worse.”

Couldn't stop laughing at the fact there was someone defined as a raven-mocker, it sounds like a sheep-worrier type label

I probably enjoyed your review more than I'd like the book (read the first in the series only which was OK but nothing amazing) - so even if I'm going to miss out on something super awesome I'll take that chance :)

Funny review!

Haha I was thinking they could've come up with a better name than 'raven-mocker' it's impossible not to 'mock'it. Haha. A raven-mocker's supposed to be a half boy half raven

I know how you feel exactly!!! I was so disappointed in this book, keeping fingers crossed that the next one won't fall short as this one did. :-(
