Top Ten... Most Intimidating Books

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted over at The Broke and the Bookish. As many of you know, I love top tens so naturally this is my favorite meme and I'm so glad to be getting back to it at long last! So today's theme is...
Top Ten Most Intimidating Books!

Here are mine in no particular order:

1) War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy - With almost 1400 pages, anyone who said this wasn't intimidating is clearly lying to you! The concept does look interesting though so I am planning to read this someday. 

2) A Game Of Thrones by George R.R. Martin - This one I have already read but with the huge size, it took a lot of courage to start. Some of the other books in the series are even larger so it will take a lot to continue.

3) Les Miserables by Victor Hugo - This beats even War and Peace's word count at over 1450 pages. After loving the musical version though I vowed to read it.

4) Anything by Charles Dickens - I am actually yet to finish a Dickens book mostly due to the fact that last time I tried I wasn't really old enough to appreciate. I am planning to read his full works some day though.

5) Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver - I know what you're all thinking, how can Pandemonium possibly intimidate me? Well, the answer is - I have no clue. It's been so long since I read the first that I don't even remember whether I liked it and I just don't want to start this one.

6) Monsters Of Men by Patrick Ness - I absolutely adored the first book in the series but the second one fell a bit flat for me so, one reason is I don't want the series to end on a low. Another reason is that Ness has a way of making you love a character then he kills them off at the end of the book. Think its a fluke? It's happened in both books, it's safe to assume he's doing it on purpose.

7) Paradise Lost by John Milton - Four words: 400 page epic poem.

8) A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess - I have been informed this book is not even in English but a mixture of Cockney and Russian. I absolutely despise slang  - I'm a Queen's English girl - so I don't know if I have much hope of getting through it.

9) Battle Royale by Koushun Takami - I've been told  its a more violent version of The Hunger Games and the concept scares me.

10) City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare - This one isn't even out yet and I know I will have trouble reading it. It is the last ever book in the Mortal Instrument series. Last. Ever. I may have to stretch it until the sequel series comes out...

Top Ten... Authors I'd Like To See On A Reality Show

Yes I said I was giving up Top Ten Tuesday but I've changed my mind, it was too hard for me to get rid of something that involved lists when I am such a list fanatic. Top Ten Tuesday is here to stay unless I decide to get rid of it again.
So Today's topic is:
Top Ten... Authors I'd Like To See On A Reality Show
Yay an author reality show! I would definatly ship them all of to Australia to be on I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.

1. Cassandra Clare: She is absolutely one of my favorite authors of  all time. Her writing is exquisite and beautifully crafted so who wouldn't want to know what she's like in real life? My guess is she is awesome - cos she thought up Will and Jace - but she has an evil streak - because of the pain she's put me through because of Will. I might want her in the Bush-tucker Trials because of that.

2. Suzanne Collins: She wrote The Hunger Games so of course she's a genius. Her survival instincts displayed in her books may serve her well in the jungle but anyone who's read Mockingjay will probably be with he when I say we need her to eat a few grasshoppers.

3 and 4. Rachel Caine and Richelle Mead: I think these two would get on really well as they are both fans of each others work. There are no vampires in the jungle - that we know of - but there are plenty of fanged animals to keep them busy.

5,6 and 7. Becca Fitzpatrick, Cynthia Hand and Lauren Kate: I love Becca Fitzpatrick and Cynthia Hand's books so I'm thinking we stick them in there with Lauren Kate to give her some lessons on what actually makes an angel book.

8. Tahereh Mafi: I just love her! Her book is amazing and from the videos I've seen of her she seems like a kind down to earth girl. She'd be the ray of sunshine for the camp.

9.  Malorie Blackman: From what I've seen of her she seems like a charismatic bubbly person and who wouldn't want her in the camp. I also think she seems like a strong woman who's not afraid of getting a bit muddy and that would come in handy in the jungle.

10. Stephanie Meyer: She gave us sparkly-stalker vampires. Enough said!

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books I'd Play Hooky With

Before I do my top ten I have a confession to make... I had to Google what 'playing hooky' was. I honestly have never heard that phrase before. For those of you who are as clueless as I am 'playing hooky' means skipping work or school (according to Google anyway). So top ten book's I'd skive for? Well I have much to many books for that list so I will do top ten books I would reread while 'playing hooky' (does the phrase annoy you as much as it does me?)

So my top ten:

1) The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins: I loved these books and they would probably be my first choice to reread, I'm not sure I would ever read Mockingjay because that just depressed me.

2) The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare: I adore TID, Cassandra Clare is an amazing writer and the characters she makes are also amazing: Will Herondale in particular. I would love to reread these but I just don't have the time. I may just have to take a day off...

3) The Morganville Vampires Series by Rachel Caine: This series has never once bored me and I've read 11 of them. The twelfth is coming out really soon so I would love to reread these before it does.

4) Bloodlines by Richelle Mead: ADRIAN! Need I say more? No, I really love the story it's self is just awesome, it used to be my favorite but I've read so many awesome books since this.

5) Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick: I liked this series and I'd like to see Patch again while I try and get hold of Silence.

6) Noughts And Crosses by Malorie Blackman: Definitely a favorite of mine and one of the more serious books I've read, very hard to explain. Read my review!

7) Before I Die by Jenny Downham: A very sad book which I can hardly remember, I liked it at the time so I'm hoping to like it as much a second time.

8) Strange Angels by Lili St. Crow: Quite a good series and I tried reading the latest and I was very confused so that has been put on hold until I reread the others.

9) My Name Is Memory by Anne Brashares: Really liked this book, a fast read for a day off.

10) The Twilight Saga by Stephanie Meyer: I'm constantly dissing Twilight but it's hard to make fun of something that you can't remember at all.I definitely should read this again.

I love CC and I loved the TID series so this must be good!

Top Ten Tuesday 3#

Hello everyone, Top Ten Tuesday is hosted over at The Broke And The Bookish. Todays theme is top 10 covers of books released in 2012 (already released or upcoming)
So here's mine in no paticular order:

I don't know what it is about the Black Dawn colour but I really like it, sadly this is the american version though. I love all of the Need series covers but I think Endure is the best yet, the eye is so pretty! I am yet to read The Mortal Instruments series but I'm planning to this year and I just the City Of Lost Souls cover.

I'd never even heard of Enchanted before today but the cover strongly reminds me of Alice In Wonderland. Don't you think? The Golden Lily cover is awesome a little dull but still awesome, I'm desperate to read it! I really like the Everneath colour, the girl on the front has the look of a Goddess.

I haven't read the series that A Million Suns belongs to but the covers so pretty, look at the sky! I can't wait to read Fever and the covers really elegant although not as pretty as Wither. Love love love the Incarnate cover, the mask is so cool!

Another series I've been meaning to read! The Hallowed cover is so pretty though I think it would have looked better a little more colourful.

Top Ten Tuesday #2

Hello everyone, Top Ten Tuesday is hosted at The Broke and the Bookish. This weeks theme is top ten books I'd give a theme tune to though in my case I pick may pick multiple.

1) The Hunger Games- I can think of a few songs that would go with THG. One being Broken Arrow by Pixie Lott (Watch video here) for the obvious reference to arrows and also the lyrics remind me of Katniss and Peeta's relationship. Safe and Sound By Taylor Swift which is actually going to be in the film, perhaps as Rue's lullaby (watch here). And finally Save A Life By The Fray, this song always makes me want to cry it's so sad but it really reminds me of Katniss's struggle to keep Peeta alive and then all of the deaths which she could not stop. (Watch here).

2) Clockwork Prince- This was a hard one as it's set in Victorian times but I think Centimeters Of London by Coldplay is quite a good one. It's about London and these lyrics stood out to me: "For the curses to be broken. We go underneath the arches where the witches are." Mentions of curses and Witches (aka Warlocks) sound familiar to you? (Watch here)

3) Shatter Me- I thought the song Stranger by Secondhand Serenade was perfect for this book. It completely sums up Julliette and Adams relationship, comparing Julliette to an angel but also saying he was terrified to meet her. Who wouldn't be? She can kill you with one touch! (watch here)

4 and 5) VA/Bloodlines- It's hard to pick songs for this actual book but I can easily pick them for Adrian so that's what I'll do. The Lazy Song By Bruno Mars at the start of the series because... well it's so him (watch here) . Breakeven By The Script I think would be perfect for him when he's totally heartbroken over Rose. (Watch here) and also Grenade by Bruno Mars (watch here). Also I'm going to predict the future and say in one of the next few books when he gets over Rose Gives You Hell by All American Rejects (watch here).

Well I can't think of another 5 songs but to be fair I did put 10 songs. What songs do you think are perfect for your favorite book? Tell me!
