Interview with the author:

Tell me about yourself:
My name is DeeDee, I’m 25 and I have a younger sister called Amy who is a brilliant musician! I live in Devon, England and have pet ducks.
I LOVE: high heels, chocolate, Devon clotted cream and books.
I HATE: men in skinny jeans, all forms of machine that determine body weight, and mornings.

Tell me about your book/s
Broken City is set after an apocalypse and tells the story of Deeta, a young woman born after the world went crazy, and Tom her best friend. But Tom is keeping secrets and not everything is as it seems.......does Deeta really know Tom at all????
‘The Promise’ is set in Saxon England and is the first book in ‘The Lady Quill Chronicles’, a series that tells how one battle changes the lives of 5 foster brothers. This book is the story of Rafe and Adele and the promise that binds them together.....
What are your favourite books?
Oooo! So many to choose from!!! I basically love anything with romance and adventure!

Who is your inspiration?
My family, they are behind me one hundred percent and I know I can rely on them to tell me the truth even when the truth isn’t that flattering!!!
Are you working on any books we should look out for in the future?
At the moment I’m in the middle of editing my next book ‘Fracture’, it’s the start of a trilogy set in the distant future. I’m also working on the sequels for both ‘Broken City’ and ‘The Promise’.
What is your favourite quote?
“I never worry about diets. The only carrots that interest me are the number you get in a diamond.”
Mae West
If you could be any character from any book who would you be and why?
Ouch! What I’m supposed to say to that!!!
I’d like to be any heroine who some tall, dark, handsome and rich hero falls helplessly in love with!!!
What is your favourite genre?
I love romance….but it has to be with something: adventure, mystery or thriller. I get board if it’s *just* romance by itself.
Who are your favourite authors?
I have a big soft spot for Georgette Heyer, Lucy Walker, Mary Jane Staples, Catherine Cookson,  P.G. Wodehouse, Jane Austen and Charles Dickens

What tips would you give young aspiring writers?
Be prepared to put in a lot of hard work: writing the book is the easy part it’s getting people to read it that’s hard!!! Always be open to criticism, it’s hard to take but it will help you to write better.
Have fun, because that is the most important thing!

If you could live in any story world what would it be?
I think that’s what I like so much about reading: you don’t have to choose just one. One day you can be fighting aliens in a far off future and the next you can attending a regency ball! And then when you’ve had enough excitement your back at home curled up by the fire drinking hot chocolate as the warm glow of the flames dances around the room.

What is the worst book you've ever read?
I’m not going to name names because it’s a bit mean but I’ve read a couple of REALLY bad historicals, I’m not talking about incorrect history but characters behaving like modern men/women in a time when they just WOULD NOT have been able to act like that.

What do you do aside from writing?
I have a band with my sister, we write and perform our own original work. I also love to cook and shop and I’m in the middle of building a Wendy house for my youngest (girl) cousin!
