Stacking The Shelves (9)

Tuesday, 12 March 2013

STSmall_thumb[2]Stacking the Shelves is hosted over at Tynga's Reviews. I went kinda mad on Amazon the other day and, although I still haven't got my hands on Clockwork Princess, I did get a few that I have been eagerly awaiting!

All covers link to Goodreads.

Bought:

Graceling (Graceling Realm, #1)The Evolution of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer, #2)

At the risk of many disproving looks that I thankfully cannot see, I confess that I bought Graceling purely based on the cover without any idea of what it was about. Can you blame me? She looks like some kind of ninja assassin which is, of course, immensely badass!

The Evolution Of Mara Dyer, on the other hand was bought because the previous book was absolutely amazing. So amazing in fact that I couldn't wait long enough for the price of it to go down and I bought it at (gasp!) full price which is a rarity for me.

Hereafter (Hereafter, #1)Prodigy (Legend, #2)

Hereafter is another book which I didn't bother to read the blurb of. I'd heard good things and apparently at the time I thought that was a good enough reason to buy it. Although I doubt my reasoning for getting it, I was incredibly glad when I found out it was a ghost book. YA doesn't have enough of those and if it's anything like Anna Dressed In Blood I will love it.

Prodigy I bought for obvious reasons. Though it just occurred to me they wont be obvious to you since I haven't got around to posting the review of Legend as of yet. To be clearer, I bought Prodigy because Legend was breathtaking and I needed the next one.

The Indigo Spell (Bloodlines, #3)Until I Die (Revenants, #2)

My reason for buying The Indigo Spell WILL be obvious this time if you have ever read anything on this blog. Third in the Bloodlines series it has been eagerly awaited by me and not just because I need my Ivashkov fix. If the Indigo Spell is half as good as The Golden Lily then I will be ecstatic!

Until I Die is the sequel to Die For Me which I actually have reviewed. As Die For Me managed to break most YA stereotypes out there I hope for similar things from this one.

Endlessly (Paranormalcy, #3)Unravel Me (Shatter Me, #2)

After loving Paranormalacy and not loving Supernaturally I was really torn whether I should buy Endlessly. In the end I decided, in respect to the impressive first book, I would give this one the benefit of the doubt. Hopefully it will not be in vain.

Unravel Me was a must buy from the moment it came out and actually one of the only books I've bought within a month of it's release date - they are just so expensive! I couldn't help myself. Shatter Me was outstanding so I am desperately praying my expectations do not fall short in this one.

Library:

Emma

After giving up Anna Karenina as my March classic because of irritating font in the book (yes that is a good enough reason for not reading it) I picked Emma up from the library instead. I have already read it and was presently surprised and, frankly, astounded that Pride and Prejudice is generally considered Austen's best work. No, Emma is the best by far.

What books have you got for me to be jealous of? If anyone says Clockwork Princess I may cry!

STSmall_thumb[2]
Stacking the Shelves is hosted over at Tynga's Reviews. I haven't done one of these for a while so there is quite a few of them. I am hoping to get back into the swing of things and post these more regularly from now on.

Click the book covers for the Goodreads information on them.

Bought:

The Fault in Our StarsAn Abundance of Katherines

After reading and loving Looking For Alaska, I just had to go out and get more from John Green and my under stocked book shop only had these two, otherwise I would've bought a lot more.

Eve and AdamUltraviolet (Ultraviolet, #1)

Eve and Adam appealed to the feminist in me and the synopsis looks awesome. I've had my eye on Ultraviolet for some time and I just had to get it when I saw it was on sale!

Bitter Blood (The Morganville Vampires, #13)Looking for Alaska

I've read both of these and I am happy to say they were both 5 star books. Reviews coming soon...

The Raven Boys (The Raven Cycle, #1)Finale (Hush, Hush, #4)

The Raven Boys looks amazing and the Hush Hush series IS amazing so I suspect the final book will be just as much.

Blood Red Road (Dust Lands, #1)

If Costa Coffee says it's good, who am I to judge?

Borrowed From The Library

This will probably be my classic of March!

For Review:

Solar, Defeated (Mythos, #1; Oracle of Delphi, #2.5)

I love this series! Read my review of this here.

So what have you got recently?

Stacking The Shelves (7)

Sunday, 21 October 2012

STSmall_thumb[2]Stacking the shelves is hosted over at Tynga's Reviews. This week I rediscovered Amazon and I can't go on that website without buying something at least. And by something I mean at least five books each time. Click the images for more information on Goodreads.
So here is what I got:

Bought:
Rebel Angels (Gemma Doyle, #2)City of Lost Souls (The Mortal Instruments, #5)

I bought Rebel Angels because although I didn't like the first one all that much I have been told they get better and I'm hoping that's true. City Of Lost Souls is another story all together, I've loved all of Cassandra Clare's books so I'm certain I will love this one just as much. I'm surprised I didn't buy it sooner actually.

The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden, #1)Cinder (Lunar Chronicles, #1)

I got The Immortal Rules on Netgallery, twice, but I never read it in time so I decided to just buy it myself. Cinder looks like a really awesome retelling and I haven't read many of those.

Under the Never Sky (Under the Never Sky, #1)My Soul to Take (Soul Screamers, #1)

Everyone is always talking about Under The Never Sky so I gave into temptation and bought it just so I could see what all the fuss was about. I read Rachel Vincent's Shifter's series and loved it so much that I had to try her young adult series. My Soul To Take's cover really is stunning minus the Twilight comparison of course.

For Review:
Fireseed One

The author wrote to me requesting a review of FireSeed and after looking it up I much happily obliged.

Library:

Crossed (Matched, #2)

I didn't like the first book, Matched, all that much so I thought I would try out the Crossed from the library instead of paying for it.

I also received some swag from the lovely Corrine Jackson, sorry the pictures the wrong way round. I couldn't change it.

What books did you get recently? Leave me your links and I'll check them out.

Stacking The Shelves (6)

Saturday, 8 September 2012

STSmall_thumb[2]Stacking the shelves is hosted over at Tynga's Reviews. I haven't been buying many books recently but sometimes I just can't resist. I have been waiting to read these long enough - or that's what I told myself when I bought them. Here's What I Got!

Imaginary GirlsThis is Not a Test
These two both look amazing! I love both covers, crazy hair and all!

Going Too FarCinder (Lunar Chronicles, #1)
I originally wanted to read Such A Rush by Jennifer Echols but it was mega expensive on Amazon so I settled with Going Too Far for half the price. I've been wanting to read Cinder since it first came out, and I really want that shoe!

The Iron Daughter (The Iron Fey, #2)Supernaturally (Paranormalcy, #2)
I've already finished both of these - quick work I know. Read my review of Supernaturally here and my review of The Iron Daughter is coming soon.

Tithe
I'd heard of this book before but it wasn't that high on my TBR list, I saw it for £2 in my favorite book shop and who can argue with that?

What did you get? Leave me your links or tell me in the comments!

Stacking the shelves is hosted over at Tynga's Reviews. Okay I need to stop buying books! I'm buying them much faster than I'm actually reading them. I didn't get that many this time though...

Stacking the Shelves (4)

Monday, 23 July 2012

STSmall_thumb[2]Stacking the shelves is hosted over at Tynga's Reviews. I have now no shelf space so I am literally stacking books on top of books... I need more shelves! I haven't done one of these for a while so I'm catching up.
Warning this is a big one!

 Bought:

The first five books in the Shifters series, all five for £3. Bargain right? I couldn't resist! Plus they looked so sad in the charity shop!

And in the same charity shop? The first four books in the Blue Bloods series for only £2. Have I mentioned how much I love rescuing books from charity shops?

Bet you can't guess where I got these... No not the same charity shop but a charity shop non the less. I really am lucky. These were more expensive though at around £10 for them all.

I've seen this everywhere lately but, silly me, I was thinking it was a guyish book. The cover is two faces but I didn't spot that at first and it just looked like a guy book. Once you see it you can't un-see it though. Courtesy of yet another charity shop.

Hallelujah! This one was bought in an actual bookshop! Still cheap at a fiver though. I'm such a cheapskate! I pity the author though, I can't say his last name without swearing. Is it impossible? Could always say Fookuda...
On another shopping spree I picked up these lovely's from yet another charity shops...

And this one which I am very eager to read and not just because it's on the banned books list!
All the hype around this book made me pick it up - yes in a charity shop. I'm not sure I will like it but it's worth a try right?

In an effort to redeem myself here's some books that I actually paid full price for!

These were cheap too but don't judge, they were from a book shop!

Believe it or not I really do love historical fiction, mostly Tudor fiction and my absolute favorite author for it is Philippa Gregory.

Yes, yes I know what your thinking. "You've already read The Hunger Games". I am aware of that fact but I didn't own the physical books so as sad as I am I got them. On the bright side they were only £7 for all three!

Giveaway:
Last but by no means least is a book that I think is the most exciting...

Ooo look what I have here! Fans will recognize this as the final book in the Chemical Gardens trilogy and the lucky girl I am I managed to win a signed ARC from the author, seven months before actual release. I'm evil flaunting it on here but I couldn't resist! Too add to my evilness:

Sorry for the rubbish picture but eeek I was so happy when this arrived.
Okay I've finished boasting, for now anyway! If there's a record for the longest STS post I think I may have it in the bag! 32 books wow a lot to say I've only read 3 this month. I will have to get back at it!!
