WWW Waiting on Wednesday

Wednesday, 1 April 2015

There are two really good book blogger events that happen on a Wednesday.

WWW Wednesdays used to be hosted over at Should Be Reading but it got cancelled, I however still really like the idea so will continue with it. If any of you still continue it then leave me a link and I will check yours out. To play along you answer these three questions: What are you currently reading? What did you recently finish reading? What do you think you’ll read next?

What am I currently reading?
Currently, I am reading Darkest Light by Alex Taylor. This book was sent to me by the author himself, all beautifully wrapped and signed, in exchange for a honest review. I am currently around 6 chapters in and I am very intrigued so far. There appears to be a multicoloured dog-type-creature and now I really really want one! My dogs are boring normal colours.
What did I recently finish reading?
I recently finished reading Saying Goodbye to Warsaw by Michael Cargill. This book was also given to me in exchange for a honest review and review it I did. This emotional wartime book managed to get 4 stars from me and I would recommend it to lovers of historical fiction and amusing, realistic characters. Read my review!

What do I think I'll read next?
I have genuinely no idea! I may reread Frankenstein or the Odyssey as both have been calling to me from my book shelf or perhaps I will read something completely different. Who knows?

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted over at Breaking the Spine and aims to spotlight upcoming books which we are really excited about! One book that I'm very very excited about is Shadow Study by Maria V. Snyder, I absolutely loved the Study series and to find out that it was being continued with a fourth book was so great! I miss Yelena and Valek and I'm so happy to be able to see more of them. I know what you're all thinking - this book is already out! However it is not out in any of the shops where I've lived so to me it's still upcoming. I shall get my hands on it soon though!

Here's some more about it:
Once, only her own life hung in the balance… When Yelena was a poison taster, her life was simpler. She survived to become a vital part of the balance of power between rival countries Ixia and Sitia. Now she uses her magic to keep the peace in both lands—and protect her relationship with Valek. Suddenly, though, dissent is rising. And Valek’s job—and his life—are in danger. As Yelena tries to uncover her enemies, she faces a new challenge: her magic is blocked. And now she must find a way to keep not only herself but all that she holds dear alive.

I don't normally like fantasy but this series is just great.

Tell me about your WWW Wednesdays or Waiting on Wednesdays in the comments!

I haven't started on this series by Snyder, but I do like her writing style, so I'll try to attempt reading those books as soon as time allows it :)

My wow's at YA Story Teller.

I haven't read anything from this author but I've heard a lot about this series :-) Hope you enjoy!

I'm currently reading Spies Against Armageddon which is a non-fiction book about Israel's intelligence agencies. It's a bit propagandy in places but quite interesting all the same.

I recently finished People Who Eat Darkness, which is about the 1999 disappearance of Lucie Blackman in Japan. Non-fiction again and quite grim.

Next, I'll probably finish off Nixonland... non-fiction again, all about Richard Nixon. I'm currently 13% of the way through and it's good stuff.

What type of dog do you have by the way?

Wow serious stuff!

And I have a chihuahua-jack russell (don't judge she's sweet) called Phoebe and an English bulldog called Milly. Weird combination I know but they love each other and are both surprisingly goodf considering their notoriously mischievous breeds.

Thanks! And you should definitely check it out.

You really should, they're great!

Sounds Good I'm hoping to get to Maria's bookings soon, because everyone seems to love them. The book you're reading sounds good too. More books on the tbr. Thanks for stopping by. I vote the Odyessy as a reread.

They totally live up to the hype I promise!

I just finished reading These Broken Stars and didn't like it as much as I anticipated. I even skipped from the middle to the end simply to find out the ending.

Currently I'm reading Unwind by Neal Shusterman, and this is such a good book! I'm a slow reader, but it'll only take me a few days to finish it. When this happens, I know it's good!

I have no idea what I'm reading next. :-D

Yay for Shadow Study! I loved the first three books and really really want to read this one :) I'm waiting for my library to order it since they have the first three but it doesn't seem like that's happening... I'll probably cave in a few weeks and buy it myself. Thanks so much for the follow and stopping by!

I saw Shadow Study in the bookstore a couple of days ago. I wanted to buy it but I need to reread the first books in the series first to refresh my memory. But I can't wait to read it!
Thanks for stopping by my post earlier!

My library is teeny so I always have to buy my own, it's frustrating!

Emily said...

It's definitely worth bumping to the top of that pile!

I fear I will have that same problem but I don't think I have the patience to wait till I've reread them!
